Alzheimer's Event Nov. 29
St. Mary’s Health Center Auxiliary and the Alzheimer’s Association are hosting a free community event Nov. 29 on the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease.
The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. at N.H. Scheppers Clydesdale Room, 2300 St. Mary’s Blvd. in Jefferson City. Janie Bonham, R.N., a professional educator with the Alzheimer’s Association, will discuss the importance of early detection for the disease, including the difference between Alzheimer’s and typical age-related changes.
Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and the fifth leading cause of death for those aged 65 and older. It is also the only top cause of death without a way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The community program is free and open to the public. For more information, call (573) 635-3175.
