St. Mary’s Health Center will commemorate the birthday of well-known civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 18, with its seventh annual event, this year titled “Peace and Love: The More Excellent Way.”
The event will include a presentation by Kenneth Ferguson, director of governmental and community relations at Lincoln University and a Jefferson City councilman. The gathering will also feature music by the Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble and Dance Troupe, responsive litanies, a reading from King’s work, prayers, and singing. A reception with refreshments will follow the ceremony.
The commemoration begins at 2 p.m. in the Assembly Hall at St. Mary’s Health Center, 100 St. Mary’s Medical Plaza. No reservation is required. For more information, call (573) 761-7000, ext. 1504.
