St. Mary's New Nursing Mother's Room
St. Mary’s Health Center has opened a new nursing mother’s room with a tranquil, private space, including free supplies and onsite education, for visitors, employees and physicians who are breastfeeding.
The Nursing Mother’s Room is located on the fourth floor of the hospital and is available 24 hours a day for nursing mothers. The room is also equipped with breastfeeding supplies and personal access to the St. Mary’s certified lactation consultant.
“St. Mary’s supports nursing mothers in our community, whether they are visitors or part of the St. Mary’s family, and the nursing room provides a great environment for these busy mothers,” says Laura Templeton, RN, Director of St. Mary’s Birthing Center.
Becky Schwaller, RN, BSN, IBCLC, RLC, a 25 year obstetrics nurse and the St. Mary’s childbirth education coordinator, is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), a certification that sets internationally recognized criteria for the lactation consultant profession. The St. Mary’s obstetrics team has nine nurses who are certified breastfeeding educators, with decades of breastfeeding assistance experience.
