Quality
By the Numbers
Founded in 1905 by the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, St. Mary’s was the first hospital in Jefferson City and has continued its legacy as the area’s leading provider of health care.
It is the most preferred hospital in its market for a reason: St. Mary’s scores on quality care are in the top tier of hospitals nationwide, as shown by standard measurements of patient care.
In 2011, St. Mary’s was been named one of the nation’s top performers in clinical quality measures by The Joint Commission, the nation’s main accreditor of healthcare organizations, and the 2011 Missouri Quality Award winner. St. Mary’s is the only mid-Missouri hospital and one of only 405 hospitals nationwide to earn the distinction this year. St. Mary’s was recognized as a top performer in four of the five categories, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.
That commitment to quality has not gone unnoticed. St. Mary’s is a member of the St. Louis-based SSM Health Care System, the first health care organization in the nation to receive the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
