HOME
St. Mary’s has the second-busiest emergency department between St. Louis and Kansas City for a reason. People ask for us. Last year, there were more than 33,000 visits to St. Mary’s ED, and yet our patients were treated more quickly than the national average.

St. Mary’s is the only hospital in central Missouri with the highest-accredited Chest Pain Center. That means the top standards of care are used from the moment a heart-attack patient arrives in the ED, when those critical early minutes count.

Emergency Trip Dries Tears
“Jill” is a registered nurse by training, but on this particular day, she was a very concerned mommy to her 1-year-old son, “Sean.” With a high fever and tears rolling down his cheeks, Sean was carried into St. Mary’s Emergency Department early one morning by his mother. “I normally go to another hospital,” she said. “I took the plunge and decided to try St. Marys.”

Quality
St. Mary’s ranks in the top 10 percent of hospitals nationally based on standards of care measured by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the agency that scores health care quality care in the nation’s hospitals. St. Mary’s scored at or near 100 percent in all measures of care for heart-attack and pneumonia patients.
