Spine Surgery Ends Debilitating Pain
When an MRI revealed that Ron Wilson, a Jefferson City resident, had spine compression causing debilitating back and leg pain, he went right to spine surgeon Dr. Jeff Lehmen.
When Dr. Lehmen told him the pain would go away immediately, Wilson says he was skeptical at first.
“But right after the surgery, it was gone,” Wilson says. “The symptoms that I was experiencing in my lower back and the radiating pain down my legs was gone.”
Wilson says he was unprepared for just how immediate his relief really was. And he credits the team of caregivers at St. Mary’s and the expertise of Harvard-trained Dr. Lehmen in minimizing the pain and discomfort that can accompany back surgery.
“It’s just such a radical change, and people were kind of surprised that I didn’t have to do any physical therapy following it, but there wasn’t any reason for it.”
Wilson says it’s hard to imagine all the things he can do these days, including enjoying rigorous physical activities such as canoeing with his sons.
